Our Gidget

Text Box: She has the cutest little face. Her sire and dam were both registered miniature horses, about 33 inches (similar to Roxy and Zorro). A dwarf is a genetic defect and they have several known medical problems. The first is because they have such a dished head and wrinkled nose that she is prone to respiratory infections. She will at time breath heavy when stressed. She has a underbite which is typical. Her legs are quite straight and I have to trim them every couple weeks while she is growing to help keep them straight. She is not with our minis because she is too tiny. We are hoping next spring she will be a little larger and be able to go with the minis. Right now she lives in Priscilla’s winter pen in the barn with an outdoor run. When I’m home from work I let her out in the yard to get to the good grass. We hope she will have a long and healthy life with us.

Text Box: Gidget was born on April 18, 2009. I found her for sale on the internet the end of June and was lucky enough to get the opportunity to buy her.

She was shipped up to Minnesota from South Carolina in a huge horse hauler. She arrived on June 30. She has been the best little horse. She always greets you with a whinny. She helps me feed everyone in the evening. She’s a dorse. A dog/horse.
Text Box: Gidget loves Deuce but we cannot keep them together because she is too small and he’s on too big of a pasture for her.
